Ruby Patricia West

Ruby Patricia West (Conaster), age 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on April 11, 2025. Born on April 19, 1944, also in Louisville, Ruby spent her life rooted in the community she loved.

She shared 64 beautiful years with the love of her life, Billy Joe West. Their bond was one of enduring devotion and companionship. Together they built a family that became Ruby’s greatest pride and joy. Ruby is lovingly remembered by her husband, Billy Jo West; sister Betty Gatlin; daughters Debbie Brown (Greg), Kathy Dickson, and Missy Pfeiffer (Jody); Son Troy West (Hanna) ;grandchildren Scott(Lauren), Chad, Brad(Christine), Brittney (Seth), Cody(Bri)McKenzie, Cole, Logan(Riley) and Lukas; and 19 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her beloved son Troy West; parents Rosie and Luther Conaster; grandson Tyler Brown; great granddaughter Aliyah Milby; son-in-law Frank Pfeiffer Jr; and several siblings.

Ruby dedicated 25 years of her career to Kroger, where she worked as a cake decorator. Her artistry and attention to detail brought joy to countless celebrations. Each cake she created was more than just dessert, it was a centerpiece of happiness for families and friends across the city.

Ruby’s faith was a guiding light throughout her life. A devoted Christian with strong spiritual roots at Southeast Christian Church, she lived each day with grace and compassion. Her warmth extended beyond family-she was known as an extraordinary wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, friend, and her favorite title “Nana”. Among Ruby’s favorite past times were spending time with her husband Billy Joe and sister Betty! Shopping trips to TJ Maxx with her daughters and longtime friend Beverly. She also found great joy in preparing delicious meals for her family and cherished memories around the table.

A visitation to honor Ruby’s life will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM with service following at 4:00 PM at Arch L. Heady/Resthaven Funeral Home located at 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40218. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a truly beautiful soul.
