Ruby Jean Brown

She was born December 10, 1929 in Springfield, KY, the daughter of Joseph Patrick and Mary Cassie (Murphy) Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Y. Brown, Jr.; siblings, Elizabeth Irene, Joseph Harold “Bud”, Frances Thelma and John William “J.W.”; and a great-granddaughter, Grace Rian.

Ruby was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and the St. Joseph Society.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Michael W. Brown, Sr. (Denise), Carolyn S. Roberts, Kenneth L. Brown (Marcella), Sherry M. Castagno (Philip), William M. Brown, Sr. (Karen), and Robert L. Brown, Sr.; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 4 siblings, Thomas Richard Smith, Shirley Ann Miller, Sara Louise Long, and Fred Leon Smith.

A mass to celebrate Ruby’s life will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 7813 Shelbyville Rd. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 3-8 PM on Wednesday at Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd., Louisville, KY.
