Roy “Sonny” Allen Thurman, 81, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023. He served his country as a US Marine and retired from Mercer Transportation after 27 years of service. In his early years he enjoyed the game of golf and more recently enjoyed playing poker with his friends. Most of all Roy loved doting on his grandchildren.
Roy is preceded in death by parents, Roy and Louise Thurman; and brother, Charles Thurman.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 54 years, Edith Thurman; children, Denise Soriano (Nicholas), Sandra Robinson (Richard); grandchildren, Bradley Grachek, Shawn DeHart, Kyle Soriano, Katheryn DeHart (Bryan Cunningham), Jessica Soriano; siblings, Larry Thurman, Nancy Frank (Clarence “Buzz” Frank); several nieces, nephews, extended family and loving friends.
