Born in Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday, June 14, 1924, Rose was the first of seven children born to Robert Melvin Atwell & Mable Alice Deuchars. Living an interesting life, Rose was raised by her grandparents, Florence & Clarence Deuchars, at 808 Hazel St. She played the piano and sang on the radio in her teens. She also danced & was accomplished on horseback, all while in her youth. Her first job was with the local phone company, later she was a court transcript reporter. She worked at Sears in the office and was a Bookkeeper for JCPS at the elementary school her children attended, all while raising them with their father, Bill Hobson, whom she married in 1945. After the death of her husband, Bill in 1972, she then married Doug Borders in 1974, who had 4 sons. Doug was a business agent which allowed for them to travel. She enjoyed outings to restaurants, nature drives & preserves & loved going to “The Boat.” She also enjoyed horses, water, swimming & boating. She then went on to become a clerk for Iroquois Bakery.
Rose lived a full life, a life well lived! One that she loved spending with her family & friends. Her home had been at Chapel House of over 20 years, where she had many great friendships & cherished the residents and staff. Her home had been at Nazareth since June of 2022 which she loved.
