He was a retired Principal at Nichols Elementary; in 1986, he became Kentucky State Teacher of the year. It was during this time he impacted many lives by teaching and fostering young adults in the community. Ron ran the boat ramp at Salt River Recreation in West Point for over 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Anna Weimer; and a sister, Linda Shires.
He is survived by his sister, Janet Cross; and many nieces and nephews, and Gregory White, who he raised as his own. Along with his family he had the Salt River Crew, a group of loyal friends he met over the years while running the boat ramp.
He will be sorely missed by all whose lives he touched but never forgotten.
His funeral service will be 5 p.m. Saturday at the W.G. Hardy Funeral Home, 10907 Dixie Hwy. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 11 a.m. till service time on Saturday. Cremation was chosen to follow services.
