Ronald V., 72, of Louisville, passed away Friday, March 17, 2012at Kindred Hospital surrounded by family. He is now breathing peacefully after a four and half year struggle with emphysema, COPD, and other illnesses.
He was born in Louisville, KY on June 24, 1939 to the late Rudell H. Franck Sr. and Irene Hall Franck.
Ronnie graduated from Flaget High School and then served in the USMC. He worked in transportations for years, finally fulfilling his dream and running his own company. He was an active member of the Transportation Club of Louisville, holding many offices.
Ronnie enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved bowling, fishing, golfing,, dancing, horse racing, playing cards, and any mention of a party, he was there with bells on, sometimes literally. He had many friends from his days dancing at Flatherty’s, playing golf at Woodhaven, and aggravating his friends at John E’s and Jock’s Sports Bar. Most of all he loved sports, especially U of K football and basketball. Ron’s prediction – Cats 2012 NCAA Champs.
Ronnie thought friends and family were very important and he always told them that we all needed at least three hugs a day.
ronnie is survived by his loving wife, soul mate and best friend of 18 years, Brenda; brother, Rudell H. Franck Jr.; sister in law, Dolly Franck; nieces, Cindy Calton (Joe) of Jacksonville, FL, Robin Schulman (Butch) of Louisville, KY; nephew, Rodger Franck (Pam) of Oxford, MS. He also leaves behind many loving members of his extended family and pets, Mack, Minnie, Mickey and Rudy.
A prayer service celebrating the life of Ronnie will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home, 4400 Bardstown Rd. Burial will be private. Visitation will be 12-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
