Rodney A. Young, 66 returned to his heavenly father on March 20, 2024 surrounded by his children and girlfriend. He was preceded in death by his parents Ernst and Martha, and his brothers Danny and Jerry. He is survived by his daughter, Gaisony Wall and son, Dallas Young. His grandchildren Haleigh, Jacob, Rylin, and Daden. His brothers Wayne (Sharon), Larry(Peggy), Rick (Emy), Scott, cousin, Greg Polley and his many nieces, nephews, his girlfriend, Shirley Newton and many more beloved family members.
From an early age Rod found his passion in riding motorcycles. In his life he was the proud owner of several on which he boldly traveled the United States. He was a proud member of the KY Harley Association. He loved adventure and seeing the beautiful sights. He had a fun personality and was full of advice. He learned later in life to enjoy the simple things like feeding and watching the squirrels. Rod retired from the Louisville Fire Department after 20 years of dedicated service. During that time he received the medal of Valor for his help saving a woman. In addition, he received the Unit Citation Award for outstanding teamwork and cooperation which contributed significantly to the advancement of the Louisville Fire Department. He spent his life trying to help others when he could. His most cherished life accomplishment though was his children and grandchildren which he instilled hard work, service, dedication, and love. To our amazing Dad, our hero, we want to say thank you. Thank you for being there for us every step of the way!
Visitation is Sunday March 24, 2024 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in his honor at 12:00 pm on March 25, 2024 at Resthaven 4400 Bardstown Road, followed by burial at Louisville Memorial Garden 4400 Dixie Louisville, KY at 2:00 pm.
