Rodney Joseph "Joe" Ramey, 55, of Louisville, passed away after a brief illness on the evening of September 1, 2016. He was an employee of the US Postal Service and was very involved in the Union. Most called him the "Under Miner" as he was always taking care of the employees and their rights.
Joe was a very avid sports person, and very involved in the community with the kids teams. He was a gentle giant, smart and funny and made friends easily... even in the bread isle at the grocery store. He coached the girls and boys basketball leagues, helped out on the football leagues and was their biggest fan from the sidelines. He was a grill master for sure, with everyone loving his finesse with grilling. But one of his favorite spots to be in was with his wife Teresa on the beach, watching the sunset, with their feet in the sand, where life was easy.
He was predeceased by his mother, Patricia Evans Vincent.
Left cherishing his memory is his loving wife Teresa Smith Ramey; children, Ryan and Natalie Ramey; father, Edward Ramey; brothers, Rondell "Archie" (Pam) Vincent, James "Jimmy" (Judy) Ramey and Kelly Ramey; in-laws, Charles and Sharon Smith; Christy (Daniel) Marin, Karen Kaiser, Tim (Tiffney) Smith, who all called him their "Uncle Mojo." And his fur babies, Bullet and Blue, along with Frodo and Jessie whom met him at the pearly gates with tails wagging and purring.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 7501 Tangelo Drive, with cremation to follow. Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 3-8 p.m. at the Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home, 4400 Bardstown Road.
Joe was an organ donor and the family would like for memorial contributions to be made to KODA, or to what was near and dear to him, the kids, in a Athletic Scholarship Fund that has been set up at any Fifth Third Bank in Joe's name. He gave his all and was never a man to let anyone down, with family being his heart.
