Robert “Bob” Wayne Marshall, lovingly known as “Bobby” to those closest to him, passed away on March 11, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on May 20, 1944, in Carrollton, KY. Bob lived a life defined by devotion to his family, his work, and his friends.
Bob’s journey began in the small town of Carrollton, KY. He is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin R. Marshall and Essica “Maw-Maw Essie” Marshall, his son Robert Marshall Jr., his seven siblings: Richard Marshall, Eula Robertson, Charles Marshall, Dortha Parker, Donna Wells, Imogene Schirmer, & Joyce Boggs. He is survived by his loving sister Judith Keith (Larry).
In 1975, Bob married the love of his life, Susan G. (McCarty) Marshall. Their beautiful union spanned over 50 years and was blessed with children: Steven Bennett (Candy), Cindy Baugh (Jason), and Bobby Marshall (Lori). As a father, Bob cherished every moment—coaching little league, teaching life lessons, and instilling values of integrity and hard work. His love extended to his grandchildren, Kelsea Williams (Alex), Hayleigh Baugh, Andrew Bennett, Austin Baugh, and Brinlee Marshall, as well as his great-grandchildren, Axle and Heidi Williams.
A life of service and leadership defined Bob’s career. After proudly serving in the U.S. Air Force, he dedicated several decades to CSX Railroad as a conductor, consultant, legislative director, and union representative. He was a tireless advocate for the safety and well-being of his fellow workers, playing a vital role in the enactment of laws to protect them.
Beyond his family and career, Bob had a deep passion for life. A proud Freemason, he embodied the principles of brotherhood and community service. He found joy on the golf course, where he shared countless laughs and friendly competition. Yet, above all, his greatest love was always his family—the heart of his world.
Bob’s legacy of kindness, dedication, and unwavering love will forever be cherished by those who knew him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Known by many and loved by all!
A visitation for Bob will be held at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home 4400 Bardstown Road Louisville, Kentucky 40218 on Monday, March 24, 2025 from 11AM to 4PM. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 4PM.
