He spend about one half of his life in Columbus, Indiana, where he co-owned Dunlap Construction Company. Dunlap did most of its work in South Central, Indiana, engaged primarily in Public Works, General and Mechanical Construction.
Bob was a veteran of the United States Army and volunteered his time at several local Columbus Civic Groups. He was on the Board of Directors and President of the Local American Cancer Society, American Lung Association, and Harrison Lake Country Club. He was also a board member of the United Way Board of Directors.
He received his degree from University of Kentucky College of Commerce in 1960, and was President of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Bob graduated from Du Pont Manual High School in 1956.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn G. and Edmond C. Gray, and his loving wife Francelle, who passed on September 20, 1994, and his sister, Gloria Hume.
Bob is survived by his children, Robert Gray, Jr of Winnetka, California and Michelle Gray of Louisville, Kentucky.
A celebration of life for Robert will be held Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven (4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40218).
It was Bob's Wish to be cremated and be placed with his loving wife, Francelle.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorial gifts be made to American Cancer Society.
