Robert (Bob) Harry Ford, age 80, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on February 24th surrounded by his family. He is preceded in death by his parents Harold and Helen (Kirchner) Ford and sister Susan Ford. He leaves behind his wife of 52 years, DeAnna (Jones) Ford; their son Todd (Lori) Ford, daughter Kristin (Kevin) Fryrear; grandchildren Alyssa Ford, Emily Ford, and Maddie Cissell. Step-grandchildren Abby Fryrear and Andy Fryrear; brother Bennett Ford. Bob also leaves behind to cherish his memory 2 nephews, and a host of extended family and friends.
Bob was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. He graduated from St. Denis Elementary School and Flaget High School (1961). He worked for Louisville Gas & Electric where he retired after 42 years of service. After retirement he enjoyed transporting race horses around the country. Bob loved to garden, fish, and spend time with his family at his favorite place, Rough River Lake, where he would spend hours sitting on the deck watching the deer and birds, waive to neighbors and listen to the boats go by.
His funeral will be on Saturday, March 4th at 10 am at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Highway, with interment following at 11:30 am Central Time at St. Anthony Cemetery, Axtel, Kentucky (1654 KY 79, Hardinsburg, KY). Visitation will be from 1pm until 8pm on Friday, March 3rd.
In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions in Bob’s memory be made to Hosparus or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
