Robert Anthony (Bob) Ott, 90, went to his heavenly home on March 12. He was born to Fred and Justine (Zipperle) Ott on August 17, 1926 in Louisville, KY. A 1946 graduate of Manual High School, he was a United States Army veteran who served as a radio operator in WW II and later worked in accounting for Seagram’s Distillery. On May 8, 1948 he married Doris Jean Kolb. Their marriage of over 68 years was a true love story. Bob was a charter member of St. Anthanasius Catholic Church, where he was a Eucharistic minister and an active volunteer for the church and school. Bob was known by all to be a gentleman, a terrific conversationalist and a physically active person. He not only exercised regularly but was an avid tennis player, golfer, swimmer, runner and biker. But above all else, he was a devoted husband, father and son. His family meant everything to him. Bob was blessed to have many good friends and family. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Doris Ott; his brothers, Fred and Kenneth Ott; and his brothers-in-law, William Kolb Jr. (Benita) and Gerald Kolb (Sue). Left to cherish his memory are his seven children: Deborah Ott (Steve Wade), Susan Mateja (David), Rebecca Seitter (Allen), Robert Ott Jr. (Joyce), Kenneth Ott (Berta), Stephen Ott (Beth), and Jennifer Ottman (Ray); twin brother Raymond Ott (Rosie); brother Donald Ott; sister Martha Mattingly (Fred); 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and neices and nephews. The family would like to express its deep gratitude for the wonderful care provided by the Episcopal Church Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 10am at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, 5915 Outer Loop, Louisville, KY 40219, with Interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday 4-8 p.m. at Arch L. Heady & Son FH, 8519 Preston Hwy. Louisville, KY. 40219.
