Richard Alan Probus 66, passed away on December 22nd at Robley Rex VA Hospital in Louisville, KY. He was born at the United States Naval Hospital on Guam, Mariana Islands. He was the son of Carlene Harp Probus and the late Richard Orville Probus. Richard graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1976. Upon graduation, he enlisted into the United States Army where he served as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne division in the 3/325th infantry. Shortly after returning home from the military, he began working as Motor Vehicle Driver for the United States Postal Service. He completed a combined 37 years of government service with dedication and passion. Richard was a member of Oakdale Baptist, Okolona Christian, and Eastside Christian Churches for many years. He cherished the value of a personal relationship with Christ, allowing him to persevere and navigate through any situation in life. Richard enjoyed his retirement with a relocation to Nolin Lake. Here, he pursued his many passions including fishing, carpentry work, guitar playing, and family time. More than anything he loved being a father and a "Poppy". His old "sayings", smile, and selflessness will always be missed. He is survived by his mother, Carlene Probus; sisters, Sherry Jenkins (Larry), Michelle Becker (Eddie), and brother, Bryan Probus (Christal); children, Andrew (Angel) Probus, Dana Ray, and Craig Probus; and seven grandchildren (Reese, Rylee, Hudson, Falynn, Merida, Londyn, and Brinlee) in addition to 4 nieces and a great niece that adored him. A celebration of life service will be on Wednesday at 12:00pm at the Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown Road with internment to follow on Thursday in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, 2501 North Dixie Blvd, Radcliff, KY 4016. Visitation will be on Tuesday From 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the funeral home.
