Otis was born on January 15, 1919 on a farm in Larue County. The area was known as “Ball Holler.” He later resided in Louisville in the Portland area where he met his wife, Margaret while playing softball for “Shaheen’s” in Portland Park. He graduated from Manual High School in 1938 and later served in World War II as a sergeant with the Air Force, in the Pacific. He worked at American Standard, and Clayton and Lambert before starting his apprenticeship as a machinist at Seagram’s Distillery where he retired in 1981.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; his parents, Leonard and Bessie Kessinger, and a brother, Roy Kessinger.
He is survived by a brother, Bill Kessinger; three sons, Bob (Judy), Jim (Marta) and Joe (Rozy); seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Please join the family and friends sharing your memories and experiences that made up Otis’s long and rich life. Otis’s funeral service will be conducted at 7pm on Friday at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road with visitation from 1 until time of service.
