Nell Carrico Witten

She was born in Branchville, SC and spent her early years in Bamburg, SC. She moved to Louisville, KY as a young teen. She met and married Carroll M. Carrico there. They were married for 30 years, during which time they raised a family and were owners of Globe Furniture Company. He preceded her in death in 1970. She later met and married John W. Witten and they spend nearly 40 happy years together until his death in October 2012. She felt greatly blessed to have had two such wonderful marriages in her life.

Nell was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was active in the St. Matthews Women’s Club for many years. She enjoyed her friends of many years as well as new friends she made almost everywhere she went. She was a member of Watkins United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her children, daughters, Barbara Carrico, Gay Witten, and Carole Holt (Dan); son, Charles Carrico (Martha); grandchildren, Michael Green, Lisa Green Mumford, Stephen Green, Rick Kiser, Lori Usher, Tommy Anderson, Taylor Holt Burke, Justin Holt and Samantha Holt Cronin and 14 great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Nell’s Life will be conducted at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 in the Chapel of Arch L. Heady and Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd. Visitation will be from Noon until the time of the service on Tuesday.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Mary Lewis for all of her care as well as to neighbors, Don and Louise Smith and Bob and Jean Roos for their ongoing friendship and care. They especially appreciate the care of Danise Rankin, Tabatha Crosby and Carolyn Fields from BrightStar.
