Mike was born in Tell City, IN to Jim and Anne Mueller on September 13, 1948. He graduated from St Bernard Catholic Grade School, then he attended and graduated from Rockport High School (South Spencer High School). Mike was a stand-out athlete that lettered in Baseball, Track, Basketball, and Football. Mike continues to hold track records in the State of Indiana for retired yardage track events. Mike also played traveling baseball for the American Legion and Kiwanis Clubs in Rockport. Following high school, Mike went on to play baseball for Purdue University and then beginning his sophomore year at Indiana University.
On June 20, 1970 he married his best friend and wife of 49 years, Terry Lynn Horn Mueller at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Rockport, IN. Mike and Terry had one child, Heidi Elizabeth Mueller Colston (Scott), and two grandchildren Ashley Taylor Kraus (Peter, III), and Hallie Elise White. His wife and family were the great loves of his life.
Mike was a proud graduate from the Kelly School of Business at Indiana University. Mike and his wife Terry moved to Terre Haute, IN after graduating from IU, and Mike completed his second degree in Accounting from Indiana State University. After graduation he and his family moved to Louisville where he became a CPA for Cotton and Allen. He left Cotton and Allen to start his own accounting firm- Chilton, Medley and Mueller. Mike continued his career by becoming CFO for both Jaggers Manufacturing and Cardinal Aluminum. Mike, never afraid of a challenge, embarked on creating a new company in the wound care industry, Medical Multiplex, Inc. (MMI). This company combined Mike’s love of business and his mission of helping people. It was the professional highlight of his life.
One of his great passions was traveling with his wife and family. He wanted to live life to the fullest. He enjoyed traveling all over the world, but his happiest place on earth was spending time with “all his brown-eyed girls” in Disney World and then playing on the Beach at Daytona.
Mike was a passionate fan of all Indiana University sports especially football and basketball, and a life-long St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan. He was an avid golfer, winning several tournaments and played in the Indiana pro-am tournament. His greatest hobby and most constant enjoyment was his love of reading and book collection. He inherited his love of reading from his most beloved mother Anne.
Mike displayed his love and generosity by volunteering his time and talents to several softball teams at Lyndon Recreation; sponsoring the Varsity cheerleading team at Waggener High School when they lost their sponsor. He fundraised to fully pay for the cheerleaders to travel to four national championships. He attended every event his daughter and grandchildren ever participated in. He sat in the front row with his camera capturing every shot and cheering louder than the rest of the crowd combined.
One of his most beautiful gifts was his ability to see the best in everyone around him. He encouraged everyone he befriended, worked for him, or was part of his family to be the best version of themselves. He loved harder than anyone, and for that he made everyone around them a better person.
Mike is also survived by his sister Mary Jane Finn, his niece and nephews, and his Aunt Mary Goff. He is preceded in death by his parents Jim and Anne Mueller, and grandparents Frank and Cora Hargis of Rockport, IN and Jacob and Louise Mueller of Tell City, IN.
The family of Mike wishes to extend our sincerest thanks to Dr. Amee Patel, Dr. Henry Sadlo, and Dr. Eleanor Lederer for the exceptional care and kindness they provided him over the last several years.
