Mary Nell Gentry Lanham, 80, of Louisville, passed away suddenly on the afternoon of August 11, 2012 at her home. She was the former Mary Nell Nichols and a native of Coffee County, Alabama. She worked for the Jefferson County School System as a bus aid for special needs children. She loved to crochet and was an avid bowler with the "Parkmoor Keglers". Her family, and her work family, along with the children of special needs meant the world to Mary Nell. She was always talking about and sharing stories about "all" her children.
In addition to her parents, Talmadge R. and Emma Windham Nichols she was preceded by both of her husbands, Tom Gentry and Everett Lanham Sr.; her son, Rick Gentry and a brother- in-law, Bill Armour.
Cherishing her memory are her children, Susan Gentry Childs, Betty Gentry (Steven) Sanders, Jayme Gentry (Jeff) Lanham and Tom (Jorra) Gentry; sister, Doris Armour; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mary's Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown Road, with interment in Resthaven Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends will be on Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. and after 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
The family requests donations to go to Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church-Building Fund.
