Peasie was born October 11, 1924 in Louisville. She was born to Theodore and Freda Schmoll. She was raised, and spent her entire life, in Germantown among 7 siblings. She lived a long, remarkable life, but her proudest accomplishments were raising her son, Joe; earning a degree from WKU in business; retiring from Bellsouth as a manager after 42 years; being a caregiver to her mother; and her service to her parish and community.
She is remembered as a fierce woman with unwavering commitment to God and service to others through volunteering for countless organizations. In 1988 she signed a Covenant with the Ursuline Sisters of Louisville, becoming an associate for life. In 2006 she was awarded the Ursuline Sisters Angeline award for her service. She was a previous president of the Our Mother of Sorrows altar society and served in roles of lectern, Eucharistic minister, hospitality minister and fish fry aficionado. It was said that if something needed to be done, let Peasie know and consider it done.
She is preceded in death by her parents Freda & Theodore Schmoll; her sisters: Mary “Honey” Wilson, Sr. Mary Margaret “Moie” Schmoll O.S.U., Mary Catherine Summers, and Mary “Bonnie” Bryan; and her brothers: Charles “Tootsie” Schmoll and Muriel “Boobie” Schmoll. Remaining here to hold her memory are her son, Dr. Joseph Fischer; granddaughter Kate Fischer (Steffany) and grandson Paul Fischer (Rachel); great granddaughters Zoë Yates and Josie Fischer; sister Rose Marie "Chubby" Grenewald of Pottstown, PA.; many nieces and nephews, and best friend, Martha Hasty.
Visitation for Peasie will be Friday, January 19, 2024 at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, 760 Eastern Parkway, Louisville, KY from 10am-12pm. A funeral mass will follow at 12pm. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Our Mother of Sorrows Altar Society or Nazareth Home.
