Mary "Denise" Smith

Mary Denise Smith, 60, of Louisville, KY passed away on May 24th, 2024. She is preceded in death by her mother Diana Pinotti. Denise is survived by her stepmother and father Susie and James Melloan, her former husband Jeff, brother Michael, her two sons Jeff Smith Jr. (Stephanie) and Matt Smith, her beloved grandchildren Summer and Savannah, as well as her dog, Ted-D.

Denise had a profound love for teaching and was a special education teacher in Bullitt County for over 30 years. After her retirement she began substitute teaching at St. Mary Academy to be closer to her grandchildren, who affectionately called her Mimi. In addition to her dedication to teaching, Denise was an amazing and loving mother. She cherished her family and adored spending time and making lasting memories with her grandchildren. Outside of work and family, she enjoyed shopping, international traveling, and boarding cruise ships with her father and Susie. Denise was also a faithful member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church for a number of years.

Visitation will take place Wednesday, May 29th from 4pm to 8pm at Arch L. Heady Funeral Home at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd, Louisville, KY 40222. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 6500 Saint Bernadette Avenue, Prospect, KY 40059 the following day on Thursday, May 30th at 10am with interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
