Marjorie Jean McCracken Rogers, age 94, of Louisville, KY, earned her wings on Sunday, April 2, 2023. She passed away surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was born in Augusta, KY on January 11, 1929. She worked many years to support her family. She worked for JC Penney, ACME Printing Inc Company, Bacons, and Lab Corporation of America.
She is preceded in death by her Mother, Edith Hull Meranda and her Stepfather, Denver M. (Mickey) Meranda.
She is survived by her children: Frank Conley of Milton, Florida, Michael S. Rogers (Lynda) of Louisville, and Edith (Edie) Rogers Azzara (John) of Louisville. Grandchildren: Kristine Knowles, David Rogers, Elizabeth Rogers Hudspeth, Lisa Azzara, Katie Azzara, John Andrew Azzara and six Great-Grandchildren.
Marjorie liked to be referred to as Margie. She had many people that adopted her as a grandma, most of which referred to her as Grandma Margie. Margie never met a stranger. If you ever gained Margie’s attention, she loved you as her own. She loved all of her family dearly, but she did have two grandchildren that she noticeably gave a little extra attention to. These two grandchildren out ranked her own children. David Rogers was always her “Baby David.” David is now in his thirty’s and still referred to as, Baby David. Lisa Azzara spent a lot of time with Margie. Those two had a very close bond. Usually, they were up to mischief together.
A visitation for Marjorie will be held Monday, April 10, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 6:30 PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven (4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40218). A prayer service will occur Monday, April 10, 2023, from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
A graveside service will occur Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Augusta, KY 41004.
To honor Margie’s life, the family request guest wear cheerful bright colors. She would want everyone to celebrate for her as she enjoyed a good party.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorial donations be made to either the Kentucky Humane Society, St. Jude, or a local nursing home of your choice.
