Louise was born on July 12, 1925 in Aurora, Illinois as an identical twin, the 5th daughter of Arthur and Maude Brandt.
She lovingly raised 5 children and taught them her much loved skills of sewing, hand crafts, cooking, gardening and caring for others. She was a devoted Girl Scout leader, a lifelong member of PEO - promoting education of women, a committed church member wherever she lived and a long term member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
In her early years Louise worked as a drafts woman for International Harvester and after raising her children she worked as a secretary in the History and English departments of two high schools in Maryland.
She was married to John Lloyd, also from Aurora, Illinois, for 62 years. He preceded her in death. She is survived by 5 of her children; Cristine Lloyd Handler (David), Catherine Lloyd Wright (Curt), Daniel Brandt Lloyd (Susan), Carolyn Jane (deceased), Tracy Sue Lloyd, Craig Barkley Lloyd (Mari). She nurtured 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Memorial Visitation will be held from 4-5PM on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at South East Christian Chapel in the Woods 1401 Moser Road, Louisville, KY 40299. A service to celebrate Louise’s life will follow at 5:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to RecycloCraftz.org- a Zambian handicraft, vocational, literacy, discipleship training ministry founded by Louise’s daughter Tracy. Funds received will go toward developing a new ministry training center to help impoverished women thrive.
