He was born December 3, 1949 in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of the late Louis Russell and Agnes Boyd (Crosbie) Eckert. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his grandson, Adam Fadel; and sister, Nancy Smith.
Larry was a 1973 graduate of Youngstown State University and went on to enjoy a career in Civil Engineering in the underground industry He was a member of The Moles Organization for 40 years, The American Society of Civil Engineering and Underground Construction of SME. Larry also served his country in the Ohio National Guard. He was a member of St. John United Methodist Church and of the covenant class. He was an avid golfer and passionate sports fan watching Cleveland Browns, Indians, and Nascar along with watching his beloved grandchildren compete in athletics.
Family was the cornerstone of Larry’s life. He leaves behind his loving wife (of 54 years), Mary Catherine “Cathy” (John) Eckert; two daughters, Amy Mineo (Kevin) and Julie Fadel (Ron); seven grandchildren, Jared(Hannah), Samuel, Isabella, Abigail, Christian, Joel, Adrianna ; and one great-grandchild on the way; and his brother James Eckert (Laura), nine nieces and nephews. Rick, Rob, Russ, Kristen, Todd, Colton, Hunter, Marissa and Mathew.
A service to celebrate Larry’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 9th, at St. John United Methodist Church, 12700 W. Highway 42, Prospect, KY 40059. Family and friends may gather at 1:30pm. Private family burial will take place at Green Haven Memorial Gardens, in Canfield, Ohio.
