Laurie Ruth Jeffries, 76, of Louisville, arrived for a Heavenly Homecoming at 11:55 p.m. on Friday, October 9th 2015. Laurie, also lovingly called Lolly and Lala was a loving, kind and generous woman who loved God and her family with her whole heart. Laurie was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ruth McGlothlin, her sisters, Betty June Waxman and Susan McGlothlin and her brother James McGlothlin. She is survived by her former husband Les Jeffries and children Terry Jeffries (Sandy) and Kimberly Mahon (Kenny). Also by grandchildren, Amanda, Caitlyn, Lelehna, Emily, Aimee, Alissa, and Callie and great grandchildren Nicholas, Caleb, Cameron, Landon, Kelsey, Kaci, Isabella, Waylon, Khloe and numerous nieces and nephews. Laurie was a graduate of Pekin High School in Pekin Indiana, and Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green. She taught high school Language Arts as a substitute teacher for Jefferson County Public Schools and later became a full time teacher at 9th & O Baptist School. After that, Laurie moved to Salem Indiana to care for her parents and became a certified nursing assistant for Providence Retirement Home in New Albany Indiana. She later became an in home caregiver for the elderly. Laurie was a giver. She felt deeply about the proper treatment of children and animals and donated regularly to the Covenant House and the ASPCA. Laurie is loved dearly and will be missed dearly by all who had the privilege to know her. There could never be enough beautiful words to illustrate her spirit but we find joy in knowing she now lives in a place mere words could ever describe. Visitation will begin at 2:00pm Wednesday at the Southern Home of Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home, 3601 Taylor Boulevard. Lou. KY. 40215. Memorial service to begin at 7:00pm.Memorial contributions may made to the Louisville branch of the Kentucky Humane Society.
