Kenneth was a retired comptroller for Ken Towery’s Firestone, attended Southeast Christian Church (where he was a member of the Master’s Men Choir), and he was a retired veteran of the Navy Reserves.
He was preceded in death by his wives Shirley P. Smith and Pearl E. Smith; and siblings Barbara Fentress, Teddy A. Smith, and James E. Smith. Survivors include his son Kenneth E. “Gene” Smith, Jr; daughters Suprina Ransdell (Woody) and Sylvia Roach (James); a sister, Shirley Wathen (Dan); grandchildren John (Heather), Adam, Joy (Chuck), Joe (Erica), and Chris (Heather); great-grandchildren Sierra, Pearl, Malcolm, Shawntae, Jovanni, Jodilynn, Anna, Michael, Joelle, Mackenzy, and Audrey; and one great-great-grandchild, A’Zaria.
A funeral service for Kenneth will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, April 19 at Southeast Christian Church Chapel in the Woods, 1407 Moser Road, followed by burial at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 2-8 pm Thursday at Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home, 3601 Taylor Blvd.
