Kenneth Anderson, 91, of Louisville, passed away April 25, 2022. Kenneth served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 until 1957. He completed his Basic Training at Great Lakes, IL. His first Naval assignment was on a Minesweeper. Next, he was stationed on a Minecraft Base in Charleston, SC and then transferred to the USS Whitemarsh LSD8 securing international ports. His final Naval assignment was in San Diego, CA on the USS Noble APA 28 until his retirement in 1957. He returned to Louisville and worked for several companies: Donaldson Bakery, Servomation Vending, Purolator Courier, and then retired from Emery Air Freight. During his retirement years, he worked part-time for Walgreens until 2016. He enjoyed serving as an Umpire. In his 70’s, he played/coached Senior Softball Teams in the Camp Taylor League. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years Doris Jean Anderson, his parents, two brothers, and three sisters. Survivors include his sons: Dr. Kenneth (Chuck) Anderson (Denise), Tony Anderson (Lisa), and Mike Anderson; grandchildren Mark, Claire, Niki, Tiffany, Cory, Zachary, Taylor, and Madison; 11 great grandchildren; a brother Steve Anderson; nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews. The family would like to especially thank: Jenifer, Kenneth’s senior helper, who was instrumental in keeping him in his home up until his death. The family is forever grateful for her care; His neighbors who have helped to watch after him for the past 6 years; and Baptist Health Louisville Palliative Care Unit for their kind, comforting, and gentle care. Funeral Service will be: Monday, May 2, 2022 at noon at Evergreen Funeral Home with interment in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be: Sunday, May 1st from 1-5pm at Evergreen Funeral Home, Preston Highway. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his honor can be mailed to: Baptist Health Louisville Foundation, Palliative Care Unit, 4007 Kresge Way, Louisville, KY 40207.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, 12:00 pm, at Evergreen Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1:00- 5:00 pm on Sunday.
