A native Louisvillian, Kay was born the daughter of Mitchell N. Lloyd & Nina Ruth Barbour on September 30, 1948. Most of her professional career was spent as a Bookkeeper and Payroll Clerk in the auto industry. Earlier in her life, while part of the congregation at 9th & O Baptist Church, she was a proud member of their celebrated choir. A talented singer, Kay enjoyed music with her friends and family, singing for her dad or harmony with her sisters and sharing her knowledge with her children. She was also a former member of Double H Square Dance Club in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
Kay's profound love for her family knew no bounds, and to all who had the pleasure of knowing her, she was known simply as Mom, Granny or Gi Gi. She was an amazing cook, to her family’s delight, and holidays were filled with delicious smells, full bellies and hearts. Her life was abundant, brimming with affection for her cherished family and friends. If there were a way to insert a heart-emoji, it would go here. 💕💕💕
Kay is preceded in death by her parents, Mitch & Nina Lloyd, her baby sister, Rose Mary, and her niece, Stefanie Lafon.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Dawn (John) Silva, Scott Rutledge, and Kristy (Chuck) Woods; grandchildren, Jessica (Keena) Watts, Jared (Sarah) Krauth, Ryan Silva, and Aidan Silva; seven great-grandchildren, Keshad, Isaiah, Makenzie, Kamara, Connor, Makaylen, and Keevon; brother & sisters, Jim (Barb) Lloyd, Pat (John) Gross & Lila Lloyd; several beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins, new grandchildren and great-grandchildren she only just met, plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
In accordance with Kay’s wishes, cremation was chosen.
