Kathy was born to her late mother Mary Frances Stubbs Coleman and her late father Keith Dean Coleman in Louisville, KY on October, 28th, 1957. She was immersed in the Christian community that would be her lifelong support from an early age. Kathy’s melodious singing voice was a gift from God that she shared from the choir, the pews, while cooking, and any other time she deemed fit. She graduated from Kentucky State University in 1979 and received her Master’s degree from Spalding University in 2014, dedicating her life to educating youth through the JCPS system as well as Sunday school.
To receive a present from Kathy was the ultimate gift. Very thoughtful in her approach of gift giving, the simple pleasure of seeing others happy was a joy of hers. Whether it was a good- hearted book, or a handmade arts and crafts project, those on the receiving end knew the attentive detail that went with the selection.
Kathy was blessed beyond measure with a large and loving family. She is survived by her brothers Stephen V. Coleman, Brian K. Coleman, and Ronald K Coleman; her sisters Teresa K. Coleman Bryant, Suzanne L. Coleman Ellis, Lynda Coleman Martinez, Kimberly Coleman Mitchell, Dionne Coleman; Along with her aunt Marie Redd and her uncle Simon Stubbs. There was never a dull moment in her life surrounded by her supportive family with her host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her pride and joy was her daughter Shay Coleman - Avery Quisenberry. Inseparable from day one, they formed a mother and daughter bond that was the foundation of their life.
A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held at 2PM, on Saturday, September 28th at St. Stephen Church, 1018 South 15th Street, Louisville, KY 40210.
