Karla Jo Metcalf

Karla Jo was born on January 21st, 1956 in Louisville, KY to Carl and Jean Ratliff. She received her nursing degree from Central Piedmont College in Charlotte, NC in 1982, and she practiced Nursing for 32 years in Louisville. On September 14, 1991, she married Raymond Charles “Chuck” Metcalf. They raised one daughter, Melissa, and two sons, Ricky and Michael.

Karla Jo was a Grandmother that had a compassion for people and helping others. A sacrificer for the good of others, an amazing teacher of life to those around her, and a dedicated Nurse at Baptist East and St. Elizabeth and Mary Hospitals. She was an avid sport fan. Loved attending sporting events and supporting her children and grandchildren. Also was an avid Louisville Cardinals athletics fan and supporter. Karla loved to travel to the beach and the sun, her sister trips, and times spent at home with her family during holidays and special occasions.

Karla Jo was preceded in death by her mother, Jean. And her grandaughter Kali Rae. She is survived by her father Carl, her husband Chuck, her three children, Michael, Ricky and Melissa. Her two sisters Kaye and Kym, her brother Kirk, and eight grandchildren, Alexis, Sydney, Theory, Ava, Stella, Bailey, Dylan, and Kaden. All of her amazing nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A visitation service will be held on Sunday, June 2nd, 2019 at the Arch L. Heady at Resthaven in Louisville, KY from 2pm-8pm. The Funeral Service will be at 10am on Monday. Followed by burial at Highland Memorial Gardens in Mt. Washington, KY. Any donations are asked to be sent to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
