Judith "Judy" Buckel

Judith Rose Buckel, age 84, of Louisville, KY passed away peacefully Saturday, November 9, 2024. Judy was born in Louisville, KY on July 7, 1940. She was the fourth child of Elizabeth and Edward Buckel. Judy was a beautician, first for Emma Clays Salon on Frankfort Avenue, and later the owner and operator of Judy's Beauty Salon on Emerson Avenue, until her retirement in the 1980's.

Judy loved to laugh and tell jokes and was the life of the party. Her ever present smile and positive attitude brought joy to all who knew her. Her kindness and compassion meant that no one cried alone in her presence. Judy was a great daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and a friend to many.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents Elizabeth (Funk) and Edward Buckel; brothers Edward and Clarence Buckel; sister Gladys Lee Bauman; sister-in-law Faustina Buckel; and brother-in-law Rudolph Bauman. She is survived by 8 nieces and nephews, Michael Bauman, Mark Bauman (Shannon), Karen Barnett (Brad), Robert Bauman (Mary Pat), Chris Bauman, Edward Buckel (Beth), Janene Griffin (Deloy), and Vicki Afemata (Taliloa); cousin Cathy Serapiglia (Louie); and 20 great nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Judy's lifelong friends Carol Jean Karnes and Mary Ann Hufnagel for their love and support, as well as the kind and caring staff at Park Terrace Health Campus.

A visitation for Judy will be held Friday, November 22, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40218, with a funeral service in her honor beginning at 12:00 PM. Judy will be laid to rest in Resthaven Memorial Park.
