Joy was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. She enjoyed helping her husband with woodworking projects, cooking meals for her family, crocheting, spending time at the lake, working crossword puzzles and spoiling her grandchildren.
Joy retired from JCPS after working 41 years as an executive secretary for seven superintendents. She graduated from Shawnee High School in Louisville, where she was valedictorian of her class. She went to work at Louisville city schools the day after her graduation in 1949. She spent her entire career in service to public education. She was a Baptist, and taught Sunday school for many years.
Joy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Kenneth Webb; their infant son, Kenneth Michael; her infant sister, Pauline Raymer; and brother, Harold D. Raymer.
She is survived by her son, Harold Duane Webb (Denise); grandson, Dustin Webb (Jessica); great-grandson, Sawyer; granddaughter, Lauren Webb (Stephen); sister, Charlene "Sissy" Hinds; nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff, nurses and chaplain in the North Unit at Masonic Home Shelbyville for the love and care they gave Joy over the past 8 months.
The funeral service will be Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 10 am at Evergreen Funeral Home Dignity Chapel with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4 pm-8 pm at the funeral home.
