Joseph "Ed" Edwin Hunt Sr.

Joseph Edwin (Ed) Hunt, Sr. 88 of Louisville KY passed away on March 23, 2023, at Norton Women’s and Children’s Hospital with his family by his side. He was born January 5, 1935, to James M. and Marietta (Stiles) Hunt. He attended St. George Grade School and Flaget High School. Ed spent his career with General Electric and retired after 37 years. He married the love of his life Patricia Jean Raible on February 6, 1960. They were married for 62 years and together for 70 years.

Ed is survived by his children Brenda Hunt, David Hunt, Melinda Hunt (Donna Diorka) and daughter-in-law Tina Hunt, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren. He also leaves behind many cherished friends from Louisville, Florida, and Canada after becoming snowbirds many years ago.

Ed is preceded in death by his wife, his parents, five siblings, and two sons, Joseph (Joe) E. Hunt, Jr. (Tina) and John Joseph Hunt.

Ed was a lover of UK sports, golf, and watched any and all football games. He was a bowler and played softball most of his life. As he got older, he continued playing well into retirement age with Senior Softball. He and Pat would travel around the country for tournaments and one year his team won the Senior Softball World Series. He loved the many guys he met along the way forging lifelong friendships. After retirement Ed took a job working for Burger’s Market delivering groceries, but it was more like a second family to him. He loved them and his customers; oh, the stories we heard. Ed was a member of St. Ignatius Church at the time of his death.

A visitation for Ed will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40218 with a funeral service in Ed's honor beginning at 7:00 PM. Ed will be laid to rest in Resthaven Memorial Park on Thursday March 30, 2023, at 1:00 PM.
