He was the retired manager of the American Legion Iroquois Hill Post #229 and a Catholic by faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose M. Heil; and his brothers, Paulie and Richard Heil.
He is survived by his daughters, Vicky Hinton (Tony), Shelley Gelhaus (Jeff) and Bridey Kurtz (Rick); a son, Perry Heil; sisters, Virginia Smith, Carol Higdon, Diana Hauber, Phyllis McGuffin; brothers, Bill, Tommy, David, Larry and Mark Heil; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Mr. Heil's life will be held at noon Monday at the Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3601 Taylor Blvd. with cremation to follow. Inurnment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday.
