Jonathan Michael Pugh, 43, died September 27, 2015. He was the first child and only son of Letty Kay Hanka Pugh and Russell Franklin Pugh, Jr. Jon was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
One of two children, he was born May 9, 1972 in Louisville, KY. He was Platoon Sergeant in the 7th Division of Louisville Metro Police Department. During his 20 year career, he served in various assignments in plain clothes and in uniform. He was an active member and State Trustee of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 614. He served in Frankfort representing the lodge during many legislative sessions.
Before he joined the Louisville Police Department he served 2 years with the Jefferson County Sherriff’s Department working in the county courts.
He graduated from Holy Cross High School, where he played football and lettered for four years. He was an avid University of Kentucky fan and one of his greatest joys was cheering his two young sons on in their sports endeavors.
Jon is survived by his sons Jacob Russell and Benjamin Franklin Pugh; parents, Letty Kay Pugh and Russell F. Pugh, Jr.; sister, Jennifer Reynold; nephew, Samuel Reynolds; and nieces, Scarlett and Ruby Reynolds.
Visitation will be Wednesday 3-8 pm and Thursday 10 am – 8 pm at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Hwy. His funeral Mass will be held at 11 am Friday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 1925 Lewiston Drive, followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery.
