In his life, he was many things: a little league baseball coach, a hardworking employee, an Army veteran, a handy man, but most importantly a dedicated husband and family man.
John served in the US Army as an airman from 1965-1967 and graduated from Trenton State College with a degree in English. He spent 49 years married to the love of his life and enjoyed golfing, well-deserved family vacations, cheering on the Louisville Cardinals, eating stale "Peeps", and sitting at the head of the table, laughing, during family dinners. He was always quick-witted and ready with one-liners that made us laugh.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis "Jiggs" and Jean Schiavi and his sisters, Mary Ann Garbarini and Carol Hutzler. He is survived by his wife, Sandra and children, Tammy McHale, Luke Schiavi, Kate Schiavi, and JR Schiavi. He was grandfather to Harmony, Brenna, Dylan, Sam, Louie, Jude, and Nia and great-grandfather to Mabel, Lorelei, Adelaide, Vera, Nora, and Flynn.
There will be a celebration of John's life at a later date. Memorial gifts can be made to Hosparus Health of Indiana.
