Born on September 2, 1949, in Louisville, Kentucky, John was the son of John Thomas Patterson, Sr. and Mary Antoinette Schwartz. A member of the Trinity High School Class of 1967, John served his nation in the Army Reserves and was a retired mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. He was also an active gardener at Black Acre farm and a nationally certified volleyball official.
His parents, John and Mary, preceded John in his passing.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Debbie Patterson; daughter, April (Matthew) Manning; grandchildren, Olivia Manning and Claire Manning; siblings, William (Sheila) Patterson, Robert (Pat) Patterson, and Mary Jo Patterson; nieces and nephews, Kevin Patterson, Kristi Lynch, and Kyle Patterson; four great-nephews and one great-niece; plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing and celebrate his life.
John was a friend to so many whether you knew him because he was your friendly mailman or your volleyball referee or your gardening buddy. He always wore a smile and offered a kind word. He loved his family and friends deeply and with a generous heart.
Cremation was chosen in lieu of burial. A Memorial Service will be held on April 16th, 2022, at 4:00 PM at Blackacre State Nature Preserve and Historic Homestead.
