John was born on September 16, 1948 in Veto, Al to the late Frank and Josephine Collier. He served in Vietnam while enlisted in the U.S. Army, graduated from Sullivan Culinary School, retired from Dawn Foods and was a member of Hazelwood Baptist Church. John loved to cook; especially baking, he enjoyed drawing and watching U of L sports. He was a very accomplished man during his life, but what he will be remembered most for is his love a devotion to his family.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Dorothy Collier; children, John William Collier, Jr., Latishia Collier, Kristianne Collier and Derek Collier; stepchildren, Tiffiany Collier, Bruce Berry and Kirk Berry; grandchildren, Walter, Asia, Darian, Rayzian, Marquelle, Jakobi, Kamauri, Karelle, Derek Jr., Derrion, Tyler, Tatiana, Darius, Destiny and Tessa; great grandchild, Isiah; siblings, Ella Collier Boyd, Ray Collier and Theresa Collier; and a host of nieces and nephews that he loved and adored.
Visitation will be from 12-8pm Tuesday, January 1st at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road. The funeral service will be held at 10am on Wednesday, January 2nd at the funeral home, with burial to follow in Resthaven, Memorial Park. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hazelwood Baptist Church.
