Dear Betty, I just learned of John's passing today (8/14/22) and was shocked and saddened by the news.  As you know John and I were room mates at Eastern for 4 years and good friends.  I was so thankful that I was able to renew that friendship a few years ago when my wife and I had dinner with you and John in northern Kentucky and had such a good time.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time.

Marshall and I were such close friends in Danville. Both of you were at our last class reunion. He seemed so vibrant and strong. I called Mark Day today and he told me about Marhsall's death.   Our high school class of 1956 was very strong and close to one another. I know he is now called John, but to us he was Marshall.  Love to you all.  Noel White

Mr. Boone was my assistant principal when I was at Male. I was lucky enough to get to travel to France with him as part of an exchange program in the early 90’s. That is a time I will never forget. He was always smiling and so much fun to be around!  His smile would light up the room!  He will be missed❤️

Mr. Boone was a true example of a Christian man, the best I’ve ever personally met. I had the pleasure of knowing him at church, spending Sunday afternoons at his house playing Barbies with Beth in grade school. Beth has been one of my best friends for over 45 years. Mrs. Boone always treated me like one of her own, making us lunch with all of us eating at the table together after church. We were blessed to have Mr. Boone as our Vice Principal all through High School. He touched so many peoples lives and will be greatly missed. Heaven gain a true treasure!!  This is not goodbye, we will see you again!  

I met John when he was the ass’t principal at Male HS.  He was one of the highly respected administrators in JCPS.  He was fair, consistent, and followed procedures.  He was a part of the team that made Male Traditional HS the quality school it is today.  I was guidance director at duPont Manual HS and we talked at the various Manual/Male games over the years.   We attend East campus of Highview Baptist  so I never got to sit in his bible class, but have friends who talk of his commitment to teaching .  Highview lost a wonderful Christian leader. May the Lord bless and comfort the family.


I really appreciated Mr. Boone's friendship with my parents at Highview.  I also appreciated my own friendship with him through Male High and serving as his aide during my senior year as well as conversations over the years during visits to Highview.  Mr. Boone impacted so many people through his career and his roles at Highview and my parents loved his Sunday School class and events at the Boones' house.  He always seemed to have a surplus of energy, motivation, and interest in the people talking to him.  I am sure you all realize the impact he had on others and I hope that provides continued comfort in these days.  

Mr Boone was Sherry and my Human Anatomy teacher. He also was my AD. Great man and teacher.

What a Godly man! I knew John and his family from Highview and I also had the privilege of serving alongside of John in the 100TH Division MTC. The Angels are rejoicing in Heaven !!  Jerry Kaiser

Dear Betty Lou(Boots!) and Family, We are so sorry for your loss!
I enjoyed our weekly breakfasts  together with our ROMEO bunch at CountrySide! We were both in education and athletic directors. We shared lots of stories. ( We have the same birthday)

I was always impressed with John and the example he showed for the love for Jesus when I was around him at church.  He will be missed around church. 

I loved Mr Boone. I was one of his swimmers 1968 through 1972. He was a great mentor and great guy.  I also worked for him during study hall when he was athletic director. He was a good part of high school I will never forget. May God give you the peace that passes all understanding. My deepest sympathy.

In happier times, we enjoyed sharing Thanksgivings at Bootie and John's with the whole family! What happy memories of such kind and welcoming festivities.

Loved Mr. Boone! I had him for physiology at Fern Creek High. Smart, fun and such a great instructor. One of the best! 

The Wilders sure love the Boone family. Mr. and Mrs. Boone  gave me my first job At age 11 watching Neil and Beth after school. I always loved them and they were so sweet. I have fond memories of those two beautiful children and their wonderful parents. Love being your neighbors and friends and our hearts go out to Mrs. Boone, Neil, and Beth.
