Our beloved Johnnie Bell, also known as Papaw, JB, Garfield, or Uncle Day to some, shuffled off this mortal coil on April 23, 2024. A true music lover and audiophile, he cranked up the tunes – anything from Blues and Rock to those sweet 60s/70s guitar riffs. Music trivia was his jam, and he thrived in the electric energy of music festivals. When it came down to it, Papaw was all about family. Spending time with his wife, Rebecca Khossravan, several children, his grandkids, and great grandkids, brought him the most joy. When away from the music, you might find him puzzling away or playing with Legos, tackling a challenging brain teaser, or engrossed in a classic B-movie or a good old fashioned horror flick. Johnnie Bell wasn't just a storyteller – his tales were legendary, filled with his signature sarcasm and punctuated by air guitar solos (because, let's face it, the man was a professional in his own right). He had a great sense of humor and a way of making everyone around him feel loved. Johnnie Bell leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and epic dance moves. Survived by siblings Peggy Jo Cardwell, Jack Bell, and Philip Bell. In place of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Home of the Innocence or Sweet Relief Musicians Fund.
A visitation for John will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Arch L. Heady - Cralle Funeral Home, 2428 Frankfort Ave, Louisville, Kentucky 40206, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM.
