Joan D Goodknight

Joan Goodknight,83, died Thursday, December 18, 2014 after a long bout with Parkinson's.She was preceded in death by her wonderful husband of 46 years, Bill Goodknight, and was loved by all who knew her. She was a beautiful woman both inside and out and was inseparable from her identical twin sister, Janet (Les) Aroh, who spoke with her daily their entire lives. The three B's were her pride and joy, sons Bill (Elizabeth), Brian (Annette) and Bob (Chris) Goodknight. As a mother, she was extremely patient and actively loved us through our ups and downs. We will be forever grateful for her and hope to continue her endearing legacy.Other family members she adored include her brothers, J.D. Nichols (Zelma) and Jim Davis; sister-in-laws, Doris Detlefs and Barbara Nichols; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.A proficient poet with nearly 300 poems to her credit, she also authored the Friendship Class newsletter at Beargrass Christian for over four decades. Joan was described as kindhearted and generous and was truly full of goodness by putting other's needs above her own. She accepted everyone and never spoke unkindly to anyone and will be sadly missed by all. Although it is difficult to say goodbye to our sweet and lovely Matriarch, her rapid health decline recently has made it easier to accept that it is now time for her to be absent from the body and present with The Lord, where there is abundant joy with no more suffering. Her Memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 3 at Beargrass Christian with a 1:00-3:00 p.m. visitation followed by a 3:00 p.m. service and reception.
