Jim Wells, 75, of Louisville, passed away January 20. Born in Brownsville Kentucky to the late Roy and Oma Houtchins Wells, Jim was the first high school basketball player from Brownsville to receive an athletic scholarship in basketball to college. Jim received his Masters Degree in Industrial Arts from Eastern Kentucky University and was a retired industrial arts teacher from the the Jefferson County Public Schools, a member of the Louisville Home Builders Association for 20 years, and the Middletown Methodist Church.
Jim was a very creative and artistic person that enjoyed woodworking, traveling to Florida, and boating, and had even built his own boat while in college
Mr. Wells is survived by his wife; Jane Wells, son; Matt Wells, Daughter; Angela Wells, step-son Bruce Isaacs, two brothers; Leo and Charles Wells a brother –in-law; Sam (Susan) Isaacs and one niece and two nephews.
Visitation will be 2-8pm Friday January 24 at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven 4400 Bardstown Road. A celebration of Jim’s life will be 10 am Saturday January 25 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made Hosparus of Louisville, The Kentucky Humane Society or Cedar Lake Lodge.
