Jerry Lee Ames, 71, of Louisville, passed away after a brief illness on the morning of November 25, 2012 at Baptist Hospital East, with his family by his side. He was a hairdresser for 30 years and was a Christian by faith. He played the piano and taught through the years and loved classical music. He enjoyed doing re-modeling around the house and refinishing furniture. Jerry liked to gamble and loved to go to the horse races. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Viet Nam era.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Ernest Wendell and Zelma Maxine Groff Ames.
Left cherishing his memory is his loving wife of 46 years, Nancy Cover Ames; brother, Ed (Linda) Ames; sister, Dixie Russell; aunts, uncles and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Life Celebration for Jerry will be held on Friday, November 30, 2012 at noon at the Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown Road, with interment and military rites in KY Veteran Cemetery Central in Radcliff, KY. Visitation will be on Friday from 10 a.m. till service time at the funeral home.
