It is with great sadness that the family of Jeffry Wade Burgess announces his passing after a hard fought battle with cancer, on Friday June 7th, 2019, at the age of 72 years. He was surrounded by his daughters, Misty Kupka and Lacey Burgess, and his sweet dog Buster.
Jeff graduated from Waggener High School, was an electrician and lifelong member of the IBEW Local 369 (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers). After being drafted he served in the army for two years, with one year of service in Vietnam between 1968-69 as a radio technician and MP. He also held a membership with the American Legion. He was a talented musician who loved to sing and played multiple instruments. Just two weeks ago he sang along to “America the Beautiful” at a memorial ceremony honoring the veterans at the assisted living facility where he resided.
He is survived by his daughters, Misty (John) and Lacey, his son Fred Karem (Kathie), his sister Darlene Ingram (Bruce), nephews Charles (Christi) and Kenny Dobbs, granddaughters Arlie Mohar Burgess and Meghan McNichols, grandsons Dylan and Ben Karem and his faithful Chihuahua-Dachshund companion of 9 years, Buster.
A cemetery service and memorial celebration to honor his life will be announced by the family at a later date.
