Jeanette Shaheen went home to be with the Lord on Friday morning, November 1st, 2019, with her family by her side. She leaves to mourn her loss, her son, Gilbert Jr.; her daughter, Sarah; her daughter-in-law, Rosa; her two grandchildren, Gabrien and Zephen; 3 sisters, 2 brothers, and several nieces and nephews.
She was born February 15th, 1938 in Beirut Lebanon to George and Annie Shehade. Jeanette was the first of 11 siblings to come to the United States in 1969, to begin a life with her husband. Although, she couldn’t speak English, she managed to learn quickly to support and take care of her husband who had suffered a traumatic brain injury along with her two young children. She found comfort and support within her community at St Michaels Orthodox Church where she had married in 1970. Jeanette was a resilient woman who always stayed positive regardless of circumstances. She was an incredible cook and she started a small catering business from her home. She then opened up a Lebanese restaurant and was so proud of her heritage and loved sharing her native cuisine. Her door was always open to anyone where there would be a warm and delicious meal awaiting. Breaking bread around her table brought her such great joy. She was a selfless woman who put others before herself, and many considered her their second mother. Family was everything to her and she lived every day to shower them with her love and give them the best life. Jeanette was a devoted Servant and lived her life with strong faith in the Lord. May her memory be Eternal.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at St. Michael Orthodox Church, from 4pm to 8pm. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 6th at St. Michael Church beginning at 10am.
