Jane Schmetter Rowe, 57, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2017 after a long battle with ovarian cancer. She was born November 4, 1959 to Constance Rennicke Schmetter and Charles Edward Schmetter. Jane was raised in Louisville, Kentucky where she attended Ballard High School. She attended University of Kentucky followed by Western Kentucky University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in speech and language pathology and audiology. After graduation, she moved to Kotzebue, Alaska above the Arctic Circle, where she was a school teacher. Jane then relocated to the Lake Norman area of North Carolina to continue teaching and raise her two children, Alex and Laurel. Later in life, Jane moved back to Louisville where she always considered home.
Jane was passionate in all ways of life; her kindness and care for others were unparalleled. Her energetic spirit will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her two children Charles Alexander Rowe (Jessica Harris Rowe) and Laurel Rene Rowe, grandson Jackson Hazen Rowe, two sisters Carol Schmetter Hewson and Suzanne Schmetter Phillips and, nieces and nephews.
To honor her life, a private family ceremony will be held.
