Jim left his mark on this world in so many ways.  May God bless you and yours in this time of sorrow.  I worked under him at CLICO.

I served in the Army with Jim and we renewed our acquaintance several years ago when he found me on the net. He was a Louisville basketballl fan and I am a Villanova fan so we had fun with that rivalry. Jerri and Jim visited us in Philadelphia once and that was such a great time. Mrs. Quillman, I was so very sorry to hear of the death of Jim.  We worked together for more than 10 years at Commonwealth Insurance, under the leadership of Patrick Welch and Allan Fugate.  Commonwealth was the sponsor of the Derby Parade for many years.  Jim, myself and several other employees were honored to represent our company as we rode in the Derby Parade, I believe in 1988. I can't express the friendship Jim and I shared, and how Jim enriched my life...I cant find them. 

Suffice to say...I have few regrets in life..but one is that we didnt spend enough time together since leaving Louisville,

Jim will always be "that special mentor" who hired me at Commonwealth Life. He always wanted to come across as "gruff" but was truly so caring.  His wit kept you on your toes and his  sayings remain a wonderful memory. 

Joe and I were very fortunate to have shared wonderful conversations over lunch with Jim to revisit those good times. Red Lobster and O'Charley's will always bring us back to Jim!

Jim once commented that we hit it off from the first time we met 30 years ago.  His exact words were "Probably because both of us had a low tolerance for B.S. and liked to get to the point instead of tap dancing all around it."  That was the Jim I'll always remember--his great sense of humor laced with candor, sarcasm and timely wit. I'm greatful for his friendship.

Jerri, Freda  and I were just notified of Jim's passing.  For more than 50 years the Quillman family has been part of my life. My early remembrances of Jim are as a member of the old Commonwealth Insurance family; my last memories are of our association through Skees Insurance Agency. It was always a joy to speak with Jim and listen to recollections of of his time in the insurance industry. He always had a relevant tidbit of information to pass along. He will be missed.

My wife and I were eating dinner outside of Panera Bread last summer when Jim came up and sat down. He and I reminisced about our time together at Capital Holding/Providian. He was a good friend and a good boss. I'm glad we had time to meet and laugh one last time.

So sorry for the loss of Jim Quillman. He was certainly a gentleman and well respected in the insurance community. So sorry  to hear about Mr. Quillman.  He was one of my favorite bosses at Commonwealth and being his secretary he taught me a lot; such as Thelma, there is no such word as "irregardless."  We always laughed about that and how we both love the Cardiac Cards. May God continue to wrap His loving arms around you and your family.

Jim gave me my very first job back in 1974 at Commonwealth Life. I had the pleasure of working with him for years. He taught me how to be a top notch employee. He was also a friend. It makes me very sad to learn of his passing. I am so sorry for your loss.

Jim was one of the "gang of kids" of the Quillmans, Oehrles, Gillespies and Zahns.  We lived within two blocks of each other and enjoyed picnics and holiday celebrations.  He was a really nice guy and did so much for his mother in her final years.  Bess and Bob have surely welcomed him home to Heaven.  He will be missed by many.

Jerri, I'm so sorry, he taught me a lot, hate to hear this, hope you are working thu this okay, but I know this is a challenge, keep calling people just to keep engaged, put me on the list !

One of the nicest people I have ever met. So witty, so quick, so "off-the-wall". No wonder why I enjoyed reporting to him for a period of time. Beneath that "tough" exterior was a caring person who truly cared about his group of friends. 

To this day, I still admire his grandparenting role which was truly out of love and NOT a labor. 

Rest in peace dear friend. I know you're enjoying some incredible buffets inside the Pearly Gates. Just save some for us, please. We love you Jim, and many of us will cherish some great moments together.

lived in a small city called Shively.
Everybody knew you and made sure
