He was born of January 30, 1947 in Louisville, Kentucky to parents, J.B. Peach & Iva W. Sea. His educational background includes earning his BS degree from Eastern Kentucky University, a graduate of Southern Police Institute and a graduate of the National Crime Prevention Institute. On July 6, 1970 he joined the Louisville Police Department. He served with the 3rd District, Traffic, 4th District, 5th District, 6th District, CIS, Auto Theft, Property Crimes and SPARS. He participated in Pick Pocket and Scalper Detail at Churchill Downs (Derby) for 25 years. He was awarded the Class “A” Mayor’s Award, Anti-busing Task Force, Tornado Medal and the Medal of Valor. He ultimately received the rank of Detective Sergeant. He retired on April 30, 2000. His most memorable experience was serving in the 3rd District for approximately 25 years under eight different Captains. He also served in the Air Force, receiving the rank of Sergeant in the 314th Transportation Squadron as an Air Freight Agent.
James is preceded in death by his parents, J.B. & Iva W. Peach; sister, Arlene P. Larkin; grandson, Brian C. Ballard; & nephew, David T. Larkin.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Louise Peach; daughter, Alisa A. Peach; nephew, Daniel L. (Mary) Larkin; multiple great nieces, nephews; plus a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. with Military & Police Department Honors to follow, at the Evergreen Funeral Home.
