James Lee Melhart, 69, of the Germantown neighborhood of Louisville, passed away April 22, 2021 at his home. He was born July 2, 1951 in Louisville to the late Lawrence and Julia Frankenberger Melhart. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Joan Melhart.
James was retired from Omega Manufacturing, formerly known as National Products. He was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church and was very active with the Germantown neighborhood Catholic churches events, including picnics and bingo. He was also a former coach of Germantown Catholic Football. He loved playing Santa for his great-nieces, Audrey and Benton Claire.
James is survived by his brothers, William Melhart(Donna), Charles Melhart, and Robert Melhart(Susan); nephews, Christopher Nuttle and Steven Nuttle; and his great-nieces, Audrey Nuttle and Benton Claire Nuttle.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10am on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, 1020 E. Burnett Ave. in Louisville, with entombment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 2pm-8pm Friday at Evergreen Funeral Home. Memorial donations in James's memory can be made to the American Red Cross.
