He was born January 13, 1930 in Hartford, KY, the son of James Felix and Eva Mae Gillespie.
Jim (or Doc to many) was a Dentist, and a 1961 graduate of the University Of Louisville School Of Dentistry. He enjoyed many years of serving the local community from his dental practice, until his retirement just a few years ago.
Jim was a United States Navy Veteran, a member of Middletown Christian Church, Louisville Dental Society, Kentucky Dental Society and also the National ADA. He loved the outdoors, especially camping and fishing, and instilled that love in his children and his friend’s children.
More than anything, Jim cherished his family and friendships. He leaves to cherish his memory, a daughter, Nan-Len; two sons, Jim Jr. and David (Jeanne); five grandchildren, Jake (Stacey), Taylor Jackson Eigelbach (Myles), Paige, Hope, and Ivy.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Rebecca Ann Story Gillespie.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 5, 2015 in the chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd. Memorial visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of the service on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the funeral home.
The family would like to acknowledge and express their appreciation to all of Dr. Gillespie’s fellow dentists, specialists, dental hygienists, assistants, and all of his patients through his many years of service. They would also like to express their appreciation to all the family and friends who brought joy to their father's life throughout the years.
