James Arthur "Jay" Cutliff, Jr., age 44 of Chicago and formerly of Louisville, passed from this life to the next on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at his home in Chicago, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Louisville and was a 1985 graduate of duPont Manual High School. In 1992 Jay moved to Chicago for work, where he resided until his passing. He was a manager at IKEA in Schaumburg, IL and also worked at Banana Republic as well as other various retail stores in both Louisville and Chicago.
Jay was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Herbert and Catherine Ford; paternal grandparents, Walker and Annie Cutliff, and his beloved dog Dottie.
Left to cherish his memory is his partner, James O'Donnell of Chicago; his parents, James "Art" and Ivy (Ford) Cutliff of Scottsville, KY; his sisters, Anetta (Stephen) Patton and Donna (Chuck) Adcock both of Louisville. He was a loving uncle to his nephew, Christopher Adcock, nieces Jennifer Patton, Lindsay Adcock, Stephanie (LaRon) Talley, Kristin (Travis) Lyttle, Erin Hereford and Missy Adcock; He was also the proud great-uncle of Charity Talley and Patton Lyttle, whom he loved very dearly.
Jay was a devoted, loving and loyal friend to many of his lifelong friends including Frank Perkins of Chicago. He had a passion for life, and a laugh that would light up a room. He was deeply loved and will be missed by many.
A Celebration of Jay's Life will be conducted on Monday, September 19, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown Road, with interment in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2 - 8 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
In Lieu of Flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago, Illinois or Kentucky Humane Society.
