She was born February 26, 1936 in Oxford, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Ralph Lemuel and Alice Parry (Fowden) Sackett. Jaclyn's father was a professor of marketing and economics and taught at different universities, including Ole Miss and university of Miami where she attended. Her great-grandfather was the dean of engineering at Penn State, where the engineering building is named after him.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Ewen Addison Howard, Jr. in 1988; one brother, Ralph Lemuel Sackett, Jr. (Doris) and her daughter-in-law, Gina Young Howard.
Jaclyn worked in her home and raised four adoring children. She volunteered at the KY Center for the Arts for 30yrs and was recognized for this achievement with a plaque on the back of a seat in row H in Whitney Hall. Jaclyn was a member of Southeast Christian Church – Blankenbaker, where she was involved in the Widows Group and Missions Group. She was also involved with the Christian Women’s Club for many years.
Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Gary S. Howard, Lisa L. Howard (Rhonda), Jennifer P. McKinley (David) and Marc A. Howard; five grandchildren, Amanda Howard Wright (Derek), Cody J. Howard (Sharon), Rachel B. McKinley Jeffries (Daniel), Emily B. McKinley and David A. McKinley (Haley); four great-grandchildren, Hudson Wright, Amelia Wright, Aria Howard and Amira Howard.
A service to celebrate Jaclyn’s life will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Sunday, December 22, 2024 in the Chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd. Visitation will be from 1-3 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
